Hany Khafagy came to Informa Egypt as General Manager in May 2018 after 20 years in the exhibitions industry, with more than half of that as Exhibition Director for Automech Formula, Cairo’s International Motor Show. Looking back, he says, Egypt’s trade show space has changed dramatically over the last five years, witnessed by the increased presence of global exhibitions operators and the increased understanding by both visitors and exhibitors of the value of trade shows as a medium for business growth.

“It’s been a pleasure to join such a dynamic team and work closely on Informa’s expansion in the region,” Hany says. “This is an exciting time for the exhibition industry in Egypt. The recent launch of the Egypt International Exhibition Centre was a great development, with our gross exhibition area increasing by 150% over the old exhibition centre. It transforms our exhibitions infrastructure dramatically and sets us to international standards.” 

Informa Exhibition’s Middle East & North Africa team provides gateways to new markets for its global customers, focusing on the automotive, auto aftermarket, real estate, power, safety & security, pharmaceutical, healthcare and food processing segments. While Hany sees continued growth opportunities in these industries in Egypt as well as the region, he believes there are more industries that have yet to be penetrated. Headds, “By using Informa’s innovative applications and strategies, we are aiming to transform our events from local events to regional ones while capitalizing on Egypt’s unique location.”
